Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment

Also known as periodontically assisted osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO), surgically facilitated orthodontic treatment (SFOT) is a combination of gum and bone grafting that allows Dr. Van Allen to orthodontically move teeth with inadequate bone and gum support, thin gums, or gum recession. It can also help avoid the extraction of teeth in some cases.

This minimally invasive surgery is usually done by a periodontist (gum specialist) or oral surgeon.
